These Are The Top 4 Beach Destinations With The Best All-Inclusive Resorts This Spring

Share The Article

Spring is that perfect travel window. You are shaking off the last of the winter cold, but you want to beat the massive summer crowds. When the goal is to completely unplug and drop your luggage in a room where everything is already paid for, nothing beats a world-class all-inclusive resort.

I have spent time in all four of the major heavy-hitters for all-inclusive travel across Mexico and the Caribbean. While they all offer that signature mix of unlimited cocktails and ocean views, they cater to completely different travel styles.

If you are looking to book a seamless beach getaway this spring, here is my breakdown of the top 4 destinations dominating the all-inclusive scene right now.

PLUS: If you aren’t sure which one you should try next I’ve made it easy for you with a quiz at the end of this article, so stick around!

1. Los Cabos, Mexico

The Upscale Desert Oasis

I will admit it right now: I have a clear favorite on this list. When I want an all-inclusive experience that feels genuinely sophisticated, I book a flight to Los Cabos.

Where Cancun gives you jungle and humidity, Cabo gives you striking desert landscapes crashing right into the deep blue of the Pacific Ocean and the Sea of Cortez.

How To Do It Right

Skip the chaotic party scene in downtown Cabo San Lucas. The magic happens along the Tourist Corridor—the 20-mile stretch of highway connecting Cabo San Lucas to San Jose del Cabo.

The resorts tucked into the cliffs along the Corridor are architectural masterpieces with world-class spas and fine dining that blows standard buffet food out of the water.

Make sure to spend an evening wandering the cobblestone streets and art galleries of San Jose del Cabo. It retains a quiet, authentic Mexican charm that is incredibly hard to find in major resort towns.

2. Cancun, Mexico

The High-Energy Classic

Cancun is the undisputed king of the all-inclusive vacation for a reason. The Hotel Zone is a massive, highly optimized strip of turquoise water and blindingly white sand.

If you want options, this is where you go. You can find everything from high-energy, adults-only party resorts featuring international DJs at the pool to quiet, family-focused properties with massive water parks.

The Spring Advantage

Because there is such a massive concentration of hotel rooms here, the competition is fierce. That means you can frequently score incredible package deals in the spring shoulder season, often snagging 4-star properties with multiple pools and restaurants for surprisingly affordable rates.

3. Riviera Maya, Mexico

The Jungle Hideaway

If you land at the Cancun airport but drive an hour or two south, the entire landscape changes. The Riviera Maya trades the high-rise concrete towers of the Hotel Zone for sprawling, low-density resorts hidden inside lush mangrove jungles.

The properties here are massive. You often have to take golf carts just to get from your room to the beach.

The Adventure Factor

While the resorts are relaxing, you come to the Riviera Maya for the excursions. This is the perfect basecamp for taking a day trip to the ancient ruins of Chichen Itza or strapping on a snorkel mask to swim through the crystal-clear, underground fresh-water cenotes that dot the jungle.

4. Punta Cana, Dominican Republic

The Picture-Perfect Palm Coast

When you close your eyes and picture a generic, perfect Caribbean beach—towering palm trees leaning over impossibly soft, powdery sand—you are picturing Punta Cana.

The Dominican Republic has mastered the art of the sprawling all-inclusive compound. The beaches here are generally wider and longer than those you find in parts of Mexico, making it a haven for travelers who want to do absolutely nothing but walk the shoreline and lounge with a rum punch in hand.

Plus, you can usually find cheaper deals in Punta Cana than in any of the other destinations on this list.

The Excursion Scene:

If you do get bored with the infinity pool, Punta Cana is famous for its off-road ATV jungle tours, and boat trips out to stunning coastal water caves. It offers a very balanced mix of deep relaxation and easy half-day adventures.
